How Many Bowling Balls Are There?

Shopping for a bowling ball would be something that you’d think would be easy, but think again! With technology, the internet, and general interest, so many advances have been made that finding a bowling ball is not as simple as just looking for a good design, finding a “bowling ball size” and weight and ordering. Balls are made from many different types of material. You can buy “normal” bowling balls that are generic in make and are similar to the type that are found in abundance in bowling alleys all across the country, or if you are a serious amateur player, or really want to get into bowling, you can get a custom made bowling ball for yourself. Bowling balls can even be made for specific types of shots, not unlike the way a golfer has a whole bag of clubs to choose from depending on what shot he needs to make. Most bowling balls are made of a special plastic and are referred to in bowling ball stores as urethane balls. They are also called “straight balls” because they don’t spin a lot. These are the most common bowling balls to find in alleys because the ball goes straight at the angle you throw them. These are the types of bowling balls that beginners should use in order to get used to the sport. What most people don’t know, is that most professional bowlers use two bowling balls. The “straight ball” is the one they use to hit a single pin to pick up a spare.
