Today, the art deco decorating style is becoming very popular and you can have this great look in your home by adding some vintage (and even newer) accessories. One great thing about decorating in this timeless fashion is that if you buy vintage items, then you will not only get a great look, but also accessories that will go up in value and may even become family heirlooms.
What to look for? The art deco era was all about geometric lines so you want to buy items that satisfy this criteria. Look for things that are “stepped” with a pyramid kind of design to them. Many items back then were made from marble and chrome and some of the most beautiful lighting came from this era including slip shade sconces (which can be purchased today in reproduction if you can’t afford the real thing) and lamps with elegant ladies and beautiful art glass ball shades.
