Property taxes are the main thing keeping my wife and I from buying our own house. We would like to stay in the area because we have some of the best schools in the state, but at the same time, the rate of tax is much higher than almost anywhere in the country. We do not live in an urban area and we don’t have a lot of extra services, so this is somewhat of a mystery. We aren’t sure why it is, but people here are paying more tax on their property than they should be. Perhaps that is why we have such good schools, I really don’t know, but I do know that is why we don’t own just yet.
