About Swimming Pool Safety Fences

If you are installing a new swimming pool, you will most likely need to also install a safety fence. Almost all commuties require this and most require that the fencing meet what are called B.O.C.A. codes. B.O.C.A. stands for Building Owners and Code Administrators. This organization publishes a set of standards that are designed to prevent accidental drowning of children, primarily.

Most communties around the world have adopted this standard. We have published a page that summarizes the main elements of this code. Be sure to understand these and to check with your local officials and homeowner’s insurance company BEFORE buying and installing a pool fence.

The B.O.C.A. code summary page is available here: About Pool Safety.
