My Review
What Happens in Vegas was not my first choice in film to see, but my other half wanted to see the movie so she got her wish. I must say I am glad I did go and watch it, as it was a great way to finish a weak of work. The film is funny and entertaining and has enough of everything to keep everyone happy. The film was well written, directed and the cast was perfect. It was a Friday night well spent. This movie is a must see and I will definitely rent it once it comes out on dvd to watch it again.
The Plot
Joy is unceremoniously dumped by her boyfriend one night at a surprise party, a devastating move that she did not see coming. Jack is fired from his job as a consequence of his laid-back attitude. The twist is that he works for his own dad.
Joy and Jack decide that the only thing they can do to shake off the disappointment is to spend a few days in Las Vegas.
After arriving at their hotel their rooms get mixed up and they both get the same room. They discover eath other in the room and go to reception to get the room problem sorted. Joy gets them new rooms and Jack gets them complimentary tickets.
Later that evening they embark upon an alcohol-fueled, no-holds-barred night of debauchery on the Strip that leaves both of them badly hung-over and uncertain about the previous night’s events. However, both Joy & Jack soon realize that they are now husband and wife. They both agree that an quick divorce is called for. Before they can get a divorce Jack puts a quarter that Joy has given him into a nearby slot-machine and immediately wins a $3 million jackpot.
But things begin to get really ugly when both of them lay a claim to the loot. As they cannot decide who the money belongs to, the pair decides to take the matter before the courts. The trouble is the judge decides to make them work for the money and freezes the account and instructs them to live together as man and wife for six months. In order to ensure they follow the letter of the law they must attend marriage counseling to try to make the marriage work. If either party does not keep up their end of the agreement, they will lose claim to their portion of the money.
Jack and Joy must now live under the same roof, share the same space and be nice with each other. They try and lay traps for each other behind-the-scenes in the hope that one will slip-up and forfeit their share of the money.
