Why is it that kids seem to get away with murder theses days? All too often we hear parents saying things like, ‘I want my little Jimmy to have all the thing I never had.  I don’t want him to have to lose his childhood like I did!’.  What the heck has any of that got to do with getting the kids to help out around the home?  Now that I’m a middle aged man, I can tell you that I’m thankful to have learned how to cook, and clean, and wash, and iron, and all the rest of it.  My wife fell ill for a time last year but the house ticked along quite nicely with me at the helm!  I’ve seen some sorry sites of useless males when they’ve had to fend for themselves.  Totally clueless and often go running back to Mum’s bosom because they can’t cope!  Same with the girls who get married without knowing how to even boil an egg for crying out loud! No folks, Hang a Childrens Chore Chart on the Wall, and start to teach them that things only work around the home when the family mucks in together.  Done the right way, the chore chart can prove to be a lot of fun, especially if you get a points or start reward system going!
