Love Techno?

If you are a keen techno DJ in need of some pointers for what techno tunes to buy (vinyl or downlaod), this is the place to look.

If you are just a techno music lover who doesn’t DJ, again I will give you some sound advice on techno mix cd’s, compilations and so on.

Searching for Techno?
If you are a DJ, one of the main problems we face is finding the right play-list for your sets, regardless of which style you play. For many styles out there such as house or electro, there are a wide range of resources for finding out quality tunes such as TV, radio, music videos plus many more.

However if you are a Techno DJ, this isn’t necessarily the case as techno itself is classed as a more underground, harder to reach style of electronic music, in which you will generally will not see techno music videos or hear techno tracks being played on the radio. Here are a few different paths to finding that qualtiy techno you want to add to your play-lists or mixes:

1) Buy a techno mix cd compiled by a techno DJ you like (some of the most famous include Dave Clarke, Carl Craig, Jeff Mills, Technasia, Chris Liebing, Adam Beyer…). Most famous techno DJ’s will have 1 or more techno mix cd’s out. Listen to the CD you have bought and highlight which tracks you like the best. Once you have selected your playlist you can search for these tracks on various websites who supply techno vinyl and downloads. I have listed a couple near the bottom of this page.

Please note with this method that just picking all the tracks of 1 CD will just make your mix sound like a chrome copy of the CD itself, so it is worth exploring a good few CD’s to select your techno tracks from.

2) This is one of my favourite techniques! Similar to CD’s, there are forums about where users post live techno club mix sets for anyone to download for free in many cases. The sets range from all knids of famous and not so famous techno dj’s. Your aim now is to listen to the techno club mix and pick out which tunes you like the sound of. How do I identify the techno track I like? Simple! If you have a mobile phone you can dial ‘2,5,8,0′ using Shazam (link below). You will be instructed to point your phone at the music. You will then receive a message telling you what the track is…amazing! This has worked roughly 90% of the time I have tried and it is amazing!

There is a selection of links for some free live techno club mix sets within one of the links below for ‘Techno mixes and downloads’. Worth checking out if you want to put this option into practice!

3) Another favoured technique of mine is simple but also really effective in finding those quality techno tunes - Go on vinyl and download websites (a couple featured below). You’ll find that many sites have users charts, new releases and recommendations from famous techno DJ’s.

I genuinely hope this information has been useful to you whether you are looking for DJ stardom or just love listening to techno. I myself am I techno lover and found these techniques super effective!
