MTD lawn mowers have built their reputation by marketing quality machines at reasonable prices. Several major brands fall under the MTD umbrella including Troy Built, Cub Cadet and Yard Man. What makes these mowers reliable is the fact that all models used quality Briggs and Stratton or Honda engines. The 12 inch rear wheels make mowing on hilly or rugged terrain easy. But there have been some minor problems reported as well, depending on the model you buy.
