The Nebraskan Baby Boom
In the state of Nebraska’s 2006 number of births was the highest since 1982, leading to the largest natural increase in population in the last 25 years, according to a new report released by researchers at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO).
Nebraska has traditionally gained residents through natural increase, where the annual number of births is larger than the annual number of deaths, but the recent up tick is worth noting, since it is positively affecting total population growth in the state and will likely lead to the need for new schools and other services in the future.
This would be a good birth announcement feature for many Nebraskans will be born in the following years and on the last previous years too.
“Some perceive that our increasing births are only a result of Hispanic in migration, but that’s just one of many factors,” Drozd said. “Births and fertility rates have been increasing among White non-Hispanics and Black non-Hispanics as well.”
